Biosphere Reserve "Prutul de Jos"
The “Prutul de Jos” reservation is located in the southwestern part of the Republic of Moldova, along the Lower course of the Prut River, the last major tributary of the Danube and the state border between Romania and the Republic of Moldova. The reservation is flanked by Slobozia Mare and Văleni localities.
Due to the impressive diversity of habitats and life forms that it hosts in a relatively small space, the reservation "Prutul de Jos" is a true museum of biodiversity, a natural bank of genes of inestimable value for the universal natural heritage.
The possibilities of visiting the Reservation are varied and depend on the available time of the visitors, their age category, as well as on the hydrological level of Beleu Lake.During the floods, visitors can opt for the water route; for the rest of the year for the land route. Visitors are provided with binoculars to admire the panorama of Lake Beleu from the observation tower. Birdwatchers are also welcome.
